Alma Jensen Bodholdt Grau was
born in Lake City, Iowa, December
22, 1895, the eldest daughter of
Nels and Mary M. Jensen and
passed away at Buena Vista County
Hospital on July 13, at the age of
79 years, 6 months and 21 days.
After her graduation from Newell
High School, she attended Grandview
College in Des Moines and
taught in a rural school near
Newell.
On February 9, 1916 she married
Hans Chris. Bodholdt. The couple
farmed and lived in the Newell
Community for 50 years until his
death October 6, 1966.
Alma was a past Worthy Matron
of the Order of the Eastern Star,
Mission Chapter #401, Newell and a
faithful member of various church
organizations. She was also honored
as queen for a day of the Newell
Centennial in 1969.
Alma moved to Storm Lake when
she and the late Oscar J. Grau were
united in marriage October 20,
1969. His death occurred July 28,
1974.
Baptized and confirmed in the
Lutheran Church, she later joined
Lakeside Presbyterian Church when
she moved to Storm Lake. Her life
of strong Christian faith, devotion
and service to others, has been an
inspiration to all who knew her.
