Ida Lillian Witter was born April 9,
1905, at Stanwood, IA, the daughter of
Edgar and Harriet Howe Loomis. She
was baptized on June 22, 1905, at
Stevens Point, WI. She later moved to
the Newell area where she received her
education and graduated from high
school. She also attended Iowa State
Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and
then taught in Buena Vista County for
seven years.
She was united in marriage to
Theodore H. Witter, Newell, on June
30, 1931. To this union were born two
children; Bonnye and Theodore. They
lived the first four years of their married
life at Clear Lake, IA, then ten
years in Storm Lake, three years In
Emmetsburg, and then moved to Sioux
Rapids In 1949 when they went into
business at the Bulletin Press for 23
years. Ted died in 1972 and that was
when Lillian retired.
Lillian was active in her church
work at Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux
Rapids. She was a member of the
Sioux Rapids Jolly Elders, and was the
treasurer of that organization for
many years.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Ted; her parents, and two
brothers, Howard and Harlan.
She is survived by her two children.
