......George Thomason, III was the son of George Thomason, II (1602-1666). The father, George II was known for his collection of Civil War Phamphlets, known as "The Thomason Tracts", now housed in the British Museum Library. The wife of George II, and mother of George III, was Katherine (Catherine) Hutton (Thomason).

George III graduated at Queens College, Oxford, in 1655, later ordained, and was Canon of Lincoln in 1683. He died in 1712.

George III married Avis Phillips.
