Switzerland, Sept 8- The many friends of WC Steele will be pained to hear of his death after a lingering illness at his residence at Switzerland, Florida at 1pm on 6 Sept. He leaves a devoted wife and one daughter to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10am. Interment was in the Switzerland cemetery.

WC married Caroline Agnes Tilton - probably in New York - about 1883.
Caroline was born 4 Mar 1859 in Queens Island, Long Island, New York and d. 28 Nov 1938 in Switzerland, St. Johns, Florida. She should be buried there also, but I haven't found it - yet.
He owned a mercantile store Fruit Grove, Florida for many years.
He and Caroline had 4 children (according to the 1900 census) but only a daughter lived to adulthood: Elizabeth Mcllivain Steele, b. 5 Aug 1893 in Switzerland, St. Johns, Florida; d. 24 Sep 1976 in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida. She married and had 9 children.
