He was the son of Franklin G. and Violet (Grimes) Bodenbender. His step-mother, Brandy Diamond, survives in Mahopac, NY. He married three times, surviving the first two. His first marriage was to Jean Hiltner and his second was to Norma Nickols. On Oct 28, 2006, he married Angela Deming, who survives in Continental.
Also surviving are his children: Bruce (Rita) Bodenbender, Cecil, Shirley Spain, Spencerville, Linda Kimmel, Cloverdale, Diane (Eric) Lyons, Kalida, Debbie (Sam) Cabral, FL, Connie (Tom Wiseman) Humphreys, Jonathan Jackman and Justin Jackman, all of Defiance, Emmalee Jackman, Continental and Taylor Jackman, Paulding; a son-in-law, Mark Frankart, Continental; special friend, Mark Kimmel, Oakwood; three brothers: Darwin (Sharon) Bodenbender, Salem, OR, Jerry (Linda) Bodenbender, Ayersville, and Tom Diamond, Mahopac, NY; four sisters: Louise (Sal) Bertolino, Diane Boenau, Linda Delvescovi, and Brenda Diamond, all Mahopac, NY; and twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Brenda Frankart; and a grandchild.
He was a STNA for the Laurels of Defiance and a member of the Free Christian Church of God, Continental. He retired from Philips Display Components after 43 years of service and had been the former Chief of Police for Continental for 12 years. He loved his family and enjoyed barbequing for others, and fishing for walleye.
