John Hess "Hessy" Engle, 84, Schellsburg, died on April 13, 2014, at Valley Community Services, Schellsburg.

He was born on August 20, 1929 in Salisbury to the late Samuel E. and Lulu E. (Loechel) Engle.

Hessy spent most of the time in his lounger, showing everyone his many watches and kissing them. He enjoyed his daytime program at the ADTC and went out to lunch at the Bedford Senior Center. Hessy loved the Lord and liked to decorate his room with biblical scriptures. He was a big fan of John Wayne and loved collecting stuffed animals. Hessy loved the staff who looked after him and the friends with whom he shared his home. Hessy was loved by all of his community members and will be missed by everyone who knew him and the Valley Community Services staff. Mr. Engle was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be welcomed on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Ingrid Chenoweth. The funeral will take place at Salisbury Cemetery.
