Born March 2, 1916, in Jackson Township, Muskingum County, he was the son of the late George W. and Nora Mae (Chaney) Miller and was an Army veteran serving during World War II. Mr. Miller was a former employee of Buckeye Pipeline and he retired in 1978 with 24 years of service from Shelly & Sands Co. of Zanesville as a foreman in the asphalt department. He had also farmed for many years. He was a member of VFW Wakatomika Post 6193, the National Rifle Association and the Ohio State Trappers Association. Mr. Miller was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed trapping and raccoon hunting, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and James Moran of Frazeysburg; four grandchildren, Karyn Clark and Kim (Joe) Kinder, both of Frazeysburg, Kevin (Dawn) Moran of Heath and Kristy (Mike) Driskel of Newark; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Clark, Haley Clement, Connor and Cameron Moran, Rhett and Landry Driskel and Jacob Kinder; one brother, Edgar (Betty) Miller of Frazeysburg; one sister, Mary Gompf of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Buchanan Parkhurst Miller, whom he married Aug. 26, 1939, and who died Oct. 1, 1995; three brothers; and five sisters.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 W. Third St., Frazeysburg.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the funeral home with Dr. James A. Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
