Harold Dean Ohrtman, the child
of William Ohrtman and Clara
Weiland Ohrtman, was born February
21, 1927 at Fonda, Iowa. He
was received into God's Kingdom of
Grace through Holy Baptism on
February 5, 1930 at Varina, Iowa.
During World War II he served in the
armed forces of our nation in the
Pacific sector of the-war. On
August 28, 1948, he was united in
holy wedlock to Dorothy Hase at
Plymouth, Nebraska. This union
was blessed with six children, -
David, Beverly, Duane, Kenneth,
Barbara, and Robert. The early
years of this marriage were spent
on the farm in the Pocahontas,
Iowa area until 1964 when the
family moved on a farm in the
Fonda area. Harold Ohrtman was a
faithful member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church of Newell where
he was serving as a trustee at the
time of his death. He was a faithful
husband and much devoted, to the
welfare of his children.
Death came to him suddenly and
tragically on Friday evening,
August 16, 1974, in an automobile
accident which also took the lives of
two of his children, Barbara and
Robert, and his mother. He attained
the age of 47 years, 5 months, and
26 days.
