Funeral services over the remains of Sarah Elizabeth Kiesel were held in the South Ward Chapel at 1 o'clock Tuesday (6 May 1930). Mrs. Kiesel died, May 3 (1930), after a lingering illess at the home of George C. Kiesel, where she has resided the past ten years. Although her suffering was hard to endure, she was pleasant to the last.

Mrs. Kiesel was born in Missouri January 13, 1848. She crossed the plains with her parents when but four years of age. Having joined the L.D.S. Church early in life, she was an active, cheerful worker as long as her health would permit. She went through the many hardships known only to pioneers. Only two of her large family survive her. They are George C. Kiesel of Manti and Mrs. A.V. Hicks of Salt Lake City. There are surviving, however, 26 grand children and 16 great grandchildren.

The speakers at the funeral services were Ernest Munk, J.B. Jacobson, G.W. Sidwell, and Bishop Ernest Madsen. All spoke of her goodness. the choir sang, "Oh My Father," "Shall We Meet," and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Ellis Moffitt and Peter Westenskow sang "God Bless That Dear Old Mother of Mine." Invocation was pronounced by Edward Carlson and the benediction by A.P. Madsen. The grave in Manti cemetery was dedicated by J.R. Witbeck.

Card of Thanks. We take this means of expressing our sincere thanks to our many friends who have shown their kindness during the illness and death of our beloved mother and grandmother and also for the many beautiful floral offerings. Mr. and Mrs. George Kiesel and family.

Necessary Explanations:
Some later records show that Sarah Elizabeth Lyman was born 13 Jan 1848 in Missouri. However, the 1860 Census of Manti (Taken 8 Jun 1860) shows Sarah Elizabeth to be age 11 which would place her birth year as 1849. Also the 1850 Census shows that the wife's mother was residing in 1850 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. When Sarah Elizabeth Lyman was endowed while living at the Endowment house in Salt Lake City Utah she listed her own birth date as 13 Jan 1849 at Pottatomie County, Iowa. From this information the researcher believes that the correct birth date and place is 13 Jan 1849 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
