Kembel Wayne Joines formerly of
Spirit Lake was born on February 22,
1913 in Royal, Iowa to Earl and Ethel
(Siefkin) Joines. Kern graduated from the
Gaza High School in Gaza, Iowa in 1930
and later from the Coyne Electrical
School in Chicago. Illinois.

He married Alice Unger and to this
marriage a daughter Mary Ann was born.
He later married Marian Krohn on
March 25, 1939. Three children were
born: Janice. Tom and Gary. He then
married Evelyn Collins Parrish on
March 3, 1983. Evelyn had four
daughters and two sons and numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Prior to World War II. Kem worked at
the Electric Crane Factory at Muskegan,
Michigan. Returning to Iowa in 1942
where he farmed near Hartley, moving to
Spirit Lake in 1950. Here he worked fox
the D.E.K./R.E.C. while living on his farm
at Spirit Lake retiring from D.E.IL/R.E.C.
in 1976. His early retirement years he
worked at Arnolds Park Amusement
Park in the summer.

After his retirement he spent the
winters in Texas and was an amateur in
photography.
