Samuel Larkin Peterson
DeQuincy - Samuel Larkin Peterson, 68, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in his home, after a six month battle with cancer.
He graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1962. He then attended Northeast Louisiana State College in Monroe, La. graduating in 1967 with a B.S. in Pharmacy, and again in 1969 with a MS in Hospital Pharmacy. Samuel worked in numerous hospitals in Texas and Louisiana. He enjoyed serving on medical mission trips in Central and South America, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evar and Artimese Peterson and his brother, Milton Peterson. Survivors include his son, Lark Peterson and his companion Tiffany Cunningham; daughters, Ashley McCollum and husband Scott of College Station, Tx. and Erin Pietriyk and husband Andy of Denver, Co.; sister, Jeanette Teeter and husband Rev. Richard Teeter of DeQuincy; sister-in-law Ranita Peterson of Shreveport, La.; grandchildren, Ian Teitelbaum, Zoie Pietriyk, Dylan Cunningham and Avie Pietriyk, and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be at 2pm, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Bible Baptist Church of DeQuincy, with the Rev. John Guillott officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 5pm to 9pm at Hixson Snider Funeral Home. It will resume at 10am till noon on Thursday at the funeral home and then from 1pm until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, Samuel's family request that donations be made to The Good Shepherd Children's Home, a Ministry of Baptist Medical and Dental Mission International, 11 Plaza Drive, Hattiesburg, Ms. 39402.
