Dalen and Rev. Scott Morey officiating. Carlin-Orville Harold Olson was born to Harold and Hilma (Peterson) Olson of Lengby, Minnesota. He was Baptized and Confirmed at Poplar Lake Church. He attended the Hoge School through the 8th grade.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Sundbom on April 12, 1952. They have farmed in Columbia Township east of Lengby since that time. Orville served in the U.S. Army 1945-1946 in post WWII France. He worked on Great Lakes Iron Ore Steamboats from 1954-1961 as a Helmsman.
Orville was a member of Poplar Lake Lutheran Church for many years and most currently a member of Fridhem Lutheran Church where he served on the boards and participated in church activities. He was also a board member for Columbia Township.
Orville enjoyed raising cattle and farming for many decades. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He was always ready to strike up a friendly conversation with anyone and discuss anything you wanted to talk about.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of 61 years. He is also survived by three sons, Miles and wife Debbie, Jerome, and Jeff who will be taking over the farming activities. He is also survived by one daughter, Janet and her husband Ralph of Buffalo, Minnesota. Other survivors include brothers Quentin and his wife Angelines, Floyd and his wife Ruth and Dale and his wife Jonni -also one sister Audrey. Grandchildren include: Kelly, and Ethan in Minnesota, Oksana, Sergei and Erena and two great grandchildren Zach and Nikita. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Hilma and brothers Francis, Eugene and Earl.
