LeRoy "Dick" was the son of Percy Haley Bickford of Portland, Cumberland County, Maine and Bernice L. Cotton Bickford of South Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. Bernice and Percy were married on 11 September 1926 in South Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. Bernice and Percy had four children. They were: Eugene Bickford was born on ; Robert K. Dick married Patricia June LaPierre on 01 July 1950 in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. Patricia and Dick had four children. They were: Eric P. Bickford was born on ; Joan B. Bickford was born on ; Kirk R. Bickford was born on ; and Beth B. Bickford was born on .

Note: Served with the Navy Seabees during World War II. He continued to serve with the Seabees, totaling 47 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.

Note: Scarborough - LeRoy Richard "Dick" Bickford, 84, of Portland, passed away on December 20, 2011, with his family by his side. He was born in Portland on October 13, 1927, the son of Percy Haley Bickford and Bernice L. Cotton. He leaves his wife Patricia June (LaPierre) Bickford after 61 years of marriage. Dick grew up in Portland and attended Portland schools. He left Portland High School during World War II and proudly served with the Navy Seabees for 5 years. Upon his return to Portland, he went back to Portland High School and graduated in 1949. It is there that he met the love of his life and they were married on July 1, 1950. He also continued to serve with the Seabees, totaling 47 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Dick worked for the Portland Water District for 13 years and then owned and operated Baston's Garage of Falmouth until his retirement. Not wanting to sit around during retirement, he went to work for Wholesale Tire Company, which he truly enjoyed. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also valued his time with his family and friends at their camp on Crystal Lake. His sense of humor and laughter will be sorely missed by all. Dick was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Patricia and his children; Eric P. Bickford and his wife Theresa of Windham, Joan B. Barkley and her husband David of Jonestown, PA., Kirk R. Bickford of Durham and Beth B. Gustafson and her husband Richard of Westbrook, along with 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Eugene Bickford of Arkansas, Robert K. Bickford of Raymond and Peter H. Bickford and his wife Carol of South Portland, along with his sister Elizabeth J. Small and her husband Cornelius of Westbrook. The family wishes to thank VNA and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their incredible kindness and warmth. Visiting hours will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Independent Death Care, 660 Brighton Ave. Portland, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM. The Rev. Mark Rustin will be officiating. At a later date, there will be a private burial at Brooklawn Cemetery in Portland.
