A native of Clinch County and a son of the late Calvin Bennett Smith and Lilla Rowell Smith.
He had made his home in the Manor community of Ware County most of his life. He was retired from the CSX car department after 39 years of service with the railroad.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War 2 and a member of Booth New Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Olga McQuaig Smith of Manor

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Booth's SCM Church following burial into the Church cemetery.
