Joshua served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-17F "Sondra Kay" #42-5906, 562nd Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 5, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a welder and also as Married.

Joshua was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, after receiving battle damage on a bombing raid over La Pallice, France, crash landed at Upper Cilgee Farm, Llanure, two miles from Llandrindod Wells, Wales, England during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
