Johnye Pearl Emmerson Moore, 92, of Clyde, Texas, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at home in Clyde. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday April 28, 2013 at the funeral home.

Johnye was born December 12, 1920 in Baird, Texas to Estelle and Newton (N.G.) Emmerson. She joined two brothers, Clarence and Chester, and three sisters, Vera Mae, Connie, and Geneva. Later, a brother, Ralph and a sister, Hazel were added to the family. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1940, having been active on the volleyball and tennis teams, as well as a Bulldog cheerleader. She still attended football games in her eighties. Johnye married Omar Francis Moore in 1942 at Clyde First Baptist Church. After a honeymoon in California, Omar served in the United States Army-Air Force in India and Burma during WWII, while Johnye and sisters Geneva and Hazel worked at Consolidated Aircraft in Fort Worth at the B-24 bomber assembly plant.

Johnye and Omar lived in Clyde until Omar graduated from Hardin-Simmons in 1949. They moved to Austin and also lived in Laredo, Abilene, Kerrville, Marlin, San Antonio, Nashville, Tennessee, and Augusta, Georgia before returning to San Antonio. They retired back to Clyde in 1974 and were active in church and the Senior Citizens, and also enjoyed being grandparents to their two grandsons, Luke and Justin.

In 1993, Omar passed away after a long illness during which Johnye was his sole caregiver. They were married 51 years. Johnye remained in Clyde in her own home, cared for in her later years by her daughter. Johnye will be remembered for sharing laughter and good times with her friends and family through the years. She especially enjoyed cooking and having get-togethers at her home. She was an enthusiastic singer from the age of four when she sang "Loved Lifted Me" as a solo at church, and loved church choirs everywhere she lived. She enjoyed meeting new friends all along the way, and had many friends in her beloved Sunday School class, Whosoever Will. The family especially thanks friend and caregiver Dorothy Eidson.

Johnny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her three brothers and her four sisters.

Survivors include on daughter, Sheila Barrow of Clyde; two grandson, Luke Barrow of Austin and Justin Barrow of Corpus Christi; one great-granddaughter Breeauna Barrow of San Antonio; nieces Barbara Jackson and husband Delmer of Eldorado, Carole Davenport and family of San Antonio, Deede Burden and her husband Tom of Winnsboro, Nancy Harris and her husband George of Sulphur Springs, Shellye Highley and her husband Bob of Midland, Gail Bains and family of Fairfield, Vicki Gilbert and her husband David of Odessa; nephews Mike Emmerson and his wife Sandy of Kermit, Lynn Scott and his wife Candy of Hawaii, Kenneth Emmerson and his wife Marie of Roswell, N.M., Curtis Gayle and his wife Patti of Tuscola, David Gayle and his wife Irene of Brawley, California and Tim Moore of Abilene.
