Carrie G. Cox, 94, of Bonsack, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013. She was born July 4, 1918, and was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Cox; and son, Ronald W. Cox. Carrie is survived by her son, Gene Cox; daughter, Ina Mae (Sissie) James and husband, Gene; son, Howard (Ed) Cox and wife, Judy; daughters- in-law, Karen Agee Cox and Patricia M. Cox; former daughter-in-law, Peggy Cox. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Doris (Sis) Richardson and husband, Cecil, whose love and caring was immeasurable; six grandsons; three granddaughters; 11 great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, especially Debi Frye, whose love and devotion was so special these last years; and her neighbors, Kathy and Danny Webster.
A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Oakey's East Chapel with the Rev. Tim Tate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Bonsack United Methodist Church or the Hermitage Samaritan Fund, 1009 Old Country Club Road, Roanoke, VA 24017.
