Daughter of Tom Taylor and Nora Harris. Laura married Sidney Ragsdale on 19.Nov.1930, Lunenburg County, Virginia.

On April 21, 2008 at 1:25a.m., Laura Taylor Ragsdale answered the Master's call at the Community Memorial Health Center in South Hill, VA and quietly slipped into eternal rest. Laura was born in Brunswick County, VA on July 10, 1911 to the late Thomas and Nora Taylor. She was the youngest of four children. Two brothers (Willis and Billy Joe Taylor) and a sister (Charlotte Sanford) preceded her in death.

Laura attended the public schools in Lunenburg County [VA]. She retired from Commonwealth Tobacco Company after 38 years of service. Laura was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church Kenbridge, VA and attended regularly until her health declined. She was also a faithful member of the St. Matthew's Baptist Church Missionary Circle and was made an honorary member because of her faithfulness.

On November 19, 1930, Laura was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Sidney Munford Ragsdale and to this union seven children were born. Three sons and two daughters preceded her in death (Herman, Richard, Thomas, Virginia, and Rejean). Laura was also a mother to all of the neighborhood children (especially those on 4th Avenue).

Laura is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Annie R. Taylor of the home; two sons, Sterling Ragsdale (Connie) of Washington, DC and Nelvin Ransome (Lenora) of Beltsville, MD; one daughter-in-law, Bessie M. Ragsdale; one son-in-law, Edward M. Wilson; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; one special friend, Cecelia L. Woodson; and a devoted caregiver, Ms. Ernestine McKnight.
