COURIER-JOURNAL NEWSPAPER OBITUARY - 02/07/2003 - RICE, Florence Alice Gordon, widow of Paul Gordon Rice Sr., passed away Thursday, February 6, 2003, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Pewee Valley, KY. She was born June 23, 1917, in Nashville, Davidson County, TN, the daughter of Richard Gordon (Richard Pontefract) and Alice Lillian Rupe Gordon. Florence Rice was formerly a resident of Indianapolis, IN, Louisville, Lyndon, KY, and Paducah, KY. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church and a member of Southern Star Chapter #154 Order of the Eastern Star in Louisville. She was the loving mother of Alice Ramer Rice Bratcher of Louisville and Paul Gordon Rice Jr. of Conyers, GA. Other survivors include her two grandsons, Richard of South Carolina and Andrew of Georgia and her five great-grandsons, Richard Jr., Christopher, Daniel, Matthew and Nathaniel. She will be missed by her daughter-in-law, Gerri; son-in-law, Dale; granddaughter-in-law, Wendy; and her two stepgrandchildren, Belinda and Brian. Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Arch L. Heady-Westport Rd., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
