Flora E. Fleming Richard, 95, of Mt. Airy passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
Born November 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Estella E. (Shoemaker) Fleming and Harry B. Fleming Sr.
She was the wife of the late John Harry Richard.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Cornell and husband David, two sisters, Nellie Brown and Hannah Knill and husband Wayne, brother Harry Fleming Jr. and wife Martha, son in law Phil Schrider, and sister in law Anarey Flemming.
Flora leaves 7 grandchildren, Russell Cornell and wife Angie, Chad Cornell and wife Chrisie, Don Schrider and wife Brenda, Amy Lawrence and husband Sean, Chrissie Boyce and husband James, Gary Richard, and Linda Videtto and husband Danny. She also had 10 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grand children.
Flora had worked at the Mt. Airy Sewing Factory and retired from Pleasant View Nursing Home after 25 years of service. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased in death by daughter Darlene Schrider, sons Johnny Richard and Tucker Richard, brothers Wilfred Fleming, Walter Fleming, Leon Fleming and sisters Gertrude Hulver and Shirley Dubel.
Flora was a life long member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mt. Airy Fire Company, a member of Howard Chapel Church of Long Corner, and a member of the 55 Plus Club.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 4-8 PM and one hour prior to the service at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, MD 21771. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11AM.
Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery, Mt. Airy, MD
