William Luther Moore was born 31 May 1896 in Logan County, Arkansas, USA. He was 5th of the ten children born to James Preston Moore (1863-1920) and Sarah Rebecca Worley Moore (1868-1950). Siblings: Bertie Lee [Moore] Sanford (1887-1988), Willis Austin Moore (1890-1953), Alta E. [Moore] Harris (1891-1981), Dana D. Moore (1894-1899), Jane Ella [Moore] Pennington (1898-1995), Monticello Moore (1900-1966), Jimmie A. [Moore] Mullins (1904-1980), Bernie Fay Moore (1907-1987) and Ben Bledsoe Moore (1909-1983). During World War I, William served as a PFC in the BTRY E 142nd Field Artillery. After the war ended, he returned to Ione, Arkansas and shortly thereafter he was married to Pearl Edna Wootten on the 4th of January 1920. Children: Rogers Wootten Moore (1921-1945), William Luther Moore Jr. (1923-1944), Ima Rena Moore (1925–1926) and James Cullen Moore (1926–1926). Tragically, Luther and Pearl suffered through the loss of their two babies and then were dealt another blow when their two oldest sons were killed during World War II. William Luther Moore Jr. died 9 June 1944 somewhere over the Adriatic Sea and was buried in Italy and Rogers was killed 3 January 1945 in Belgium. Luther passed away 2 March 1972 in Booneville, Logan County, Arkansas and was buried in the French Prairie Cemetery in Ione, Logan, Arkansas.
