Church Services for Jessie T. Sims, 90, of Matador will be held at 2:00 p.m Saturday April 27, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Matador with Reverend Tommy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at East Mound Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Matador. Jessie T. passed away April 24, 2013.
Jessie T was born on February 25, 1923 to Henry Sims and Eliza Alexandra Sims in Linden, Texas. He married Glouris Askew on April 7, 1941 in Matador. From this union they had fourteen children. Jessie T was a plumber and he also farmed some. He was a lifetime member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Matador.
He is survived by his children: Jessie Mae Brown of Matador, Erma McCuen and husband Arthur of Lubbock, Joyce Roberson and husband Vernon of Slaton, Jewel Thompson and husband James of Burleson, Glouris Pitts of Plainview, Paulette Henry and husband Harvey of Dallas, Vivian Campbell and husband Charlie of Midland, Herbert Sims and wife Gloria of Lubbock, Carlton Sims and wife Carolyn of Lubbock, Jessie T Sims Jr. of Matador, Clayton Sims of Matador, Don Sims and wife Elaine of Amarillo, and Forrest Sims of Peblo, CO.
He is also survived by one brother Henry Lee Sims, 31 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Eliza Sims, a son Ernest Sims, three sisters V. O. Jones, Bearnice Johnson, and Pauline Smith, and two brothers Norris Sims, and Willie Sims.
