Laconia - Ernest Newell Cook, 86, of 175 Blueberry Lane, died at the Laconia Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Mr. Cook was born June 24, 1926 in Laconia, N.H., the son of Ernest & Lila (Reed) Cook. He was a lifelong resident of Laconia and had been associated with Chertok Furniture Co. and drove taxi for many years before his retirement.

Mr. Cook was a longtime member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876, the Laconia Snowshoe Club and the Laconia Rod & Gun Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Lear Johnson of Cedaredge, Colo. and Sherry Fletcher of Bristol, R.I.; grandchildren, Denita Goudarzi and her husband, Richard, of Loudon, N.H., Shayne Wheeler of Buckeye, Ariz. and three grandchildren in Bristol, R.I.; two great grandchildren, Janille Hilger of Woodridge, Ill. and Nichole Dallman and her husband, Aaron, of Weare, N.H.; his sister, Marjorie Kimball, of Laconia, N.H.; his niece, Millicent Jack, of Belmont, N.H. and two nephews, Melvin Covey and Floyd Covey, both of Laconia, N.H. He was predeceased by his parents and by two sisters, Evelyn Pollard and Jenny Mae Bell.

There will be no calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1:00PM at the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.
