R. Harold Womac, 89, of Athens, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Robert Felix and Lennis Shamblin Womac and was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Cannon Womac.

He was a well known farmer in the Riceville community and served in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II.
Survivors include one sister, Letha Scoggins of Riceville; one brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Gail Womac of Riceville; four sisters-in-laws, Nell C. Mackey of Cleveland, Hazel Johnson and her husband, Jimmy, and Flora Cannon, all of Athens, and Sally Cannon of Alcoa; his niece and caregiver, Joan Cannon Bradford of Athens; a very special friend, James Lemons of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Womac Family Cemetery with Dr. Alvin Womac officiating.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Services.
