JAMES E. YOUTSEY, 100 YEARS OF AGE, DIES IN GREELEY

James E. Youtsey, a former resident of Phillips County, passed away Monday evening, October 12, at the Weld County Hospital in Greeley following a three-week illness. He observed his 100th birthday on October 4.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at the Radford Funeral Home in Haxtun, with the Rev. Lloyd Johnson officiating.

Interment will be at the Haxtun cemetery.

The son of Jacob and Jane Johnson Youtsey, James Ephriam Youtsey was born October 4, 1864 in Gallatin, Missouri. He was married to Alta Ina Martin at Gallatin on August 14, 1884. Mrs. Youtsey passed away in 1937. Mr. Youtsey farmed in Missouri until 1900 and then moved to Denver. In 1913 he came to Holyoke and operated a creamery here for five years before returning to Denver.

He moved to the Fairfield community north of Paoli in 1921 and operated a grocery store. He later had a store in the St. Peter community, remaining there until retiring in 1939.

After retiring, Mr. Youtsey moved to Denver where he resided until 10 months ago. Since that time he had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. William E. Douhan, in Greeley.

Mr. Youtsey was a member of the Christian church.

Surviving are two daughters, Elma, Mrs. Douhan, Greeley, and Mrs. Myrtle Sandy, Denver; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

Preceding Mr. Youtsey in death was a daughter, Miss Edna Youtsey, former Phillips County superintendent of schools. She was twin sister of Mrs. Douhan.
