Lester Stanley Anthony, 93, of Nelson's Golden Years, DuBois, died on Thursday, May 11, at DRMC West in DuBois after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Anna Louise Motts Anthony, who died on Feb. 1, 2005.

Born in Analomink, he was a son of the late Jacob and Elinore Transue Anthony.

He lived most of his life in the Pocono area, including 54 years in Sciota. In 1996, he moved to Beech Creek and in 200 he came with his daughter to Weedville. He had been a resident of Nelson's Golden years since 2004.

He was a machinist for the Dixie Cup Division of American Can in Easton for 41 years before retiring in 1978. He also owned and operated, with his wife, Anthony's Greenhouse in Sciota for more than 30 years.

He attended Weedville Wesleyan Church and he loved plants, gardening, animals especially cats and his family.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Luther Barbara A. Nelson Jr., of Weedville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Norman, Richard, Fred, Joseph and Harold Beany Anthony; and four sisters, Minnie Hallett, Grace Hallett, Rosie Bush and Anna Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, from the Ralph M. Greer Funeral Home in Penfield with the Rev. Luther Nelson Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the funeral home. An additional service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, from the William H. Kresge Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322. Viewing, 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Hamilton Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to Weedville Wesleyan Church.
