Richard was the son of Arthur Moseley III and Martha Cocke.
He married Mary Taylor Bass about 1748. They were the parents of at least twelve children:
Robert Joel (my ancestor), Rebecca Ann, Sarah, Richard, Martha, Alexander, Mary, Josiah, Peter, William, Arthur and Nancy
In 1739, Richard, his two brothers, Arthur and William secured a patent to 900 acres known by the name of Butterwood Swamp that encompassed land belonging to their father.
