Mrs. Bertha Geneva Burgess Barlow, age 96, of Abita Springs Louisiana, formerly of Wilkes County died Sunday, April 21, 2013 in New Orelans, Louisiana. Mrs. Barlow was born December 5, 1916 in Wilkes County to George W. and Martha Maro Absher Burgess. She was a longtime member of Baptist Home Baptist Church and resident of the Mulberry Community. She has spent the past 21 months living with her son in Louisiana. Before retiring she worked at Martin Aircraft in Baltimore during World War II, followed by Wilkes and Peerless Hosiery in Wilkes. Mrs. Barlow was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Carl Barlow; three sisters, Effie Absher, Ella Mae Whittington, Letha Barlow; and two brothers, Edison Burgess and Ralph Wyatt.

Surviving are her son, Ron Barlow and wife Carol; and one grandson, Levan Barlow all of Abita Springs, Louisiana.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 o'clock Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Baptist Home Baptist Church with Rev. Stuart White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Baptist Home Baptist Church from 12:00 until 2:00 o'clock on Tuesday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
