MILO - Charles M. Decker, 93, died April 24, 2013, at Katahdin Health Care, Millinocket. He was born Feb. 28, 1920, in LaGrange, son of Charles M. and Belle (Cowing) Decker.

Charles served with the U.S. Army from Nov. 6, 1940-Oct. 21, 1945, as a drill sergeant and combat engineer. He married Frances Carleton, May 14, 1942. He had been employed at Great Northern Paper Co. in the finishing room for many years and was a member of J. P. Chaisson American Legion Post No. 41. Charlie was very clever with his hands and enjoyed carpentry and working on small engines. A favorite pastime was taking things apart and then putting them back together. He also enjoyed the outdoors, snowmobiling, hunting, boating and fishing. Family was so important to him and he will be remembered as a wonderful father, father-in-law and grandfather.

Charlie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Frances; great-grandson, Cody; and two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by two sons, W. Scott Decker and wife, Cindy, and David Decker and wife, Linda; two daughters, Sheila Perry and husband, Jimmy, and Peggy Card and husband, Chuck; 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jill, Joyelle, Nikki, Amy, Jason, Scott, Kelly, Clarice, Kristina, Amber and Bailey; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial with military honors will be after in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News 4/26/2013)
