Ernestine Kaye Banks of Blacksburg, Virginia formerly of Pulaski, Virginia went home to be with her loving Lord on April 19, 2013 at Montgomery Regional Hospital, after a long illness. "Kaye" was born on March 24, 1951 in Pulaski, VA to Lawrence and Margaret Powell. She attended Christiansburg Institute in Christiansburg, Virginia. She was employed by Pulaski Furniture Company for many years. She also worked of O'Charley's and Ryan's Restaurant of Christiansburg, Virginia. Kaye was a very faithful and dedicated member of Faith Tabernacle United Holy Church in Dublin, Virginia where she loved singing in the choir. Reading her Bible, quoting scriptures and watching football all brought her joy. Her Sunday's were made for CHURCH and football. At family cookouts, if a horseshoe pit was around, she was always in the game. Kaye loved her family and cherished her friends.. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stephanie Renee Powell and sister Gloria Powell. She Leaves to her cherish her memory her precious son, Akeem Lewis, who she called "AA" of Blacksburg, Virginia; a loving grandson Malcolm Powell of Radford, Virginia; three sisters Rosslind Powell, Geneva (Harry) Austin and Melissa Powell all of Pulaski, Virginia; brother, Larry Powell of Pulaski, Virginia; stepchildren, Tammy Christian, Chrissy Cook and Monty Lewis; a very dedicated , special friend Doug Lewis of Radford, Virginia aunt Drucilla Harvey of Rich Creek, Virginia and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her guard dog "Lil Bit". Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, 26, 2013 at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Elder David Lewis Officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pine Hurst Cemetery, Pulaski, Virginia Arrangements entrusted to Penn's Funeral Home, Pulaski, Virginia
