Services for Gary Elmo Couch, 69, of Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at the Center Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Peters officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Center. Mr. Couch passed away at 2:30 a.m. June 21, 2010, at his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Hannibal, the son of George Elmo and Phyllis Herron Couch. He was married to Carol Sue (Susie) Hoffman on Nov. 16, 1958, in Center and she survives. Other survivors include one son and his wife, Scott and Shari Couch of Perry; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joni Botkins and Jennifer (Brian) Torrence, all of Center; one brother and his wife, Mike and Judy Couch of Center; 10 grandchildren, Ryan Couch of Louisiana, Alyssa Couch of Bowling Green, Drew Richards and Tiffany Richards of Perry, Jaymee Quinn of Joplin, Jordan Botkins and Justin Botkins, of Monroe City, Cody, Evan, and Ian Torrence, of Center; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Karson, Grant, and Caroline Quinn, of Joplin. He was preceded in death by an infant sister. Mr. Couch was a lifetime Center area resident and a 1958 graduate of Center High School. He was a member of the Center Baptist Church. He worked as a truck driver for MFA for several years and then UPS for over 20 years. He and his wife also owned and operated Show Me Car Wash, in Center for 12 years. He was a former member of the Mark Twain Lake Chamber of Commerce and had served for several years as a board member. He served as a Center City Council member for several years as well as serving on the Center Planning and Zoning Committee. He was a member of the Ralls Masonic Lodge #33. He enjoyed doing yard work, woodworking, and watching NASCAR. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Loving Care Hospice, 914, W. Main, Bowling Green, Mo. 63334, the Center Park Association or the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be Donnie Couch, Bruce Wisdom, Shawn Couch, Eddie Palmer, Rick Jones, and John Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracey Carmen, Chelle Tharp, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.
