Ralph graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1945. He met Edith Elizabeth (Beth) Nelson in 1948 and they were married December 23, 1949. They had two children, Randall B and Patricia Jean.
He attended college at Henegar Business College in Salt Lake City. After five years they moved to Boise, Idaho and he worked for Morrison-Merrill, later to be known as Boise Cascade. While working with Boise Cascade he was transferred to Jerome, ID then later to Spokane, WA and Billings, MT. In 1973 he was transferred back to Boise where they have lived since.
Ralph was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest in the Mountain View Ward. He worked many years in the scouting program. He enjoyed wood working in his shop and remodeled several houses. He and his family enjoyed camping and boating. He also enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful yard and garden.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Beth, of 63½ years; daughter, Patricia Swenson (David), of Boise; grandchildren, Emily (Justin) Sorensen, Jennifer (Brandon) Riggs and Allison (Ryan) Pehrson, all of Provo, UT, and Mark Cardenas, of Boise; sister, Blanche Barker, of Salt Lake City, UT; plus many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randall B. West, seven siblings, and his parents.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Gretchen Kohler and Legacy Hospice for many hours of tireless and loving service.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the LDS Chapel located at 8620 Goddard Road. A viewing will be from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Dry Creek Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel.
