Civil War Union Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company A, 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on January 4, 1864. He served through the conclusion of the war, and was honorably mustered out on August 1, 1865.

"Services Saturday for Civil War Hero"
Funeral services for Aaron S. Carson, civil war veteran and old-time resident of this city, who died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F.J. Robinson, 330 Rutherford Avenue, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, from the Robinson home. Interment will be in the Pennington Cemetery under direction of Ivins & Taylor.
Mr. Carson, who was 90 years old, was born in Centreville, Pa. At the age of 17, he had learned the carpenter trade and moved to Pennington, where he engaged in the contracting business. Later he moved to this city and was employed as carpenter at the State Hospital. After filling that position for more than 46 years. Mr. Carson was pensioned and had been living retired in recent years.
At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in Company A, New Jersey Cavalry, and took part in many engagements, including the battle of Gettysburg. He was one of the oldest members of the State Street M. E. Church."
