Mauro Della Selva, 93, of North Providence, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. Born in Bristol, he was a son of the late Michael and Raffaella (Ruggieri) Della Selva. 


Mauro was a WWII U.S. Air Force veteran. He was decorated with the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He received citations for meritorious achievement with distinction over enemy-occupied Continental Europe. He was a POW at Stalag VII in Moosburg, Germany, for nine months. After the war he was a boiler room operator for Narragansett Electric for 32 years.


Mauro was the beloved husband of Antonette "Etta" (Gentile) Della Selva; father of Michael Della Selva and his wife, Shelly, James Della Selva, Judith Fahey and David Della Selva and his wife, Maryam; loving grandfather of Sean and Conor Fahey and Sophia and Julianna Della Selva; brother of Joseph Della Selva and the late Angelo and Anthony Della Selva and Susan Saccoccia.
