Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a United States Army Sergeant in Company E, 8th United States Cavalry. In Arizona in 1868 and 1869, he distinguished himself for bravery in scouts and actions against Indians. His citation was issued September 6, 1869.
