Reverend Orville H. Cornett


CORNETT, Reverend Orville H. - Age 84, passed away November 18, 1997 in Tyler, Texas of cancer. He was a resident of the Lookingglass Valley near Roseburg for over 50 years. He and his wife, Anna E. Cornett, moved to Callender Lake near Muchison, Texas two years ago to be near his daughter, Lorraine C. Bradfield and her husband, John Bradfield. He was born November 6, 1913 in Pittsburgh, Kansas and lived in California, Texas and Colorado before moving to Oregon. Mr. Cornett worked in the lumber industry, and owned his own business, “Orville's Fixit Shop” for over 20 years in Roseburg. He was very active in the Roseburg Search and Rescue. He was a Chaplain at the Douglas County Corrections in Roseburg for many years and a member of the Open Bible Church. He was also an active member of the Full Gospel Businessmen and preached at the Roseburg Rescue Mission. Stephen A. Cornett, his son; Joseph M. Cornett, his father and Ella Bell Stern, his mother preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Anna E. Cornett of Callender Lake, Texas; his daughters, Ellen Marie Colwell and husband, Melvin Colwell, of Roseburg and Lorraine C. Bradfield and husband John J. Bradfield of Callender Lake, Murchison, Texas; his sisters, Alice Bell Renner of Roseburg and Ruby Robson of Denver, Colorado. He also leaves seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The family wishes donation be made in his name to Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, 4101 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701 in lieu of flowers. He was buried in Texas.
