Bernard B. Bleske, 86, of Chetek, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz.

He was born March 21, 1915, in Eau Claire to August and Laura (Ausman) Bleske. He married Beatrice Elaine Wangen Feb. 4, 1937, in Eau Claire. Bernard worked 38 years for Uniroyal Tire Co. of Eau Claire. During WWII, the Uniroyal plant was shut down to assist with the war effort. Bernard was moved to Detroit where he was a guard at an ammunition plant, then returned to Eau Claire. He moved to Chetek permanently in 1973 after living in Eau Claire. He spent winters in Mesa, Ariz. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Chetek, and also was a main usher at the church. He was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus, enjoyed hunting, including game birds, rabbit and deer. He enjoyed having a big garden and had one this past year. He enjoyed all sorts of fishing.

Survivors include two sons, August (Kristina) of Chetek and Bernard, Jr. (Sandy) of Spring Lake Park, Minn.; four daughters, Patricia (Ronald) Bleskachek of Chippewa Falls, Marion (Bob) Edwards of Panama City Beach, Fla., Jeanne Dutter of Eau Claire, and Barbara (Mike) Pope of Amery; a brother, Paul (Vi) of Eau Claire; a sister, Delores Sorenson of Eau Claire (Town of Union); 33 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice (Feb. 6, 1994); three grandchildren, Carmen, Corrinne and Bradley; two brothers, Albert and Johnnie; and one sister, Madonna.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Chetek, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Chetek. Friends may call Sunday, April 8, from 4-8 p.m. at the Burnham-Ours Funeral Home, Chetek, and also one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A Prayer Service will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
