Grace was in all her steps, heaven in her eye, in every gesture dignity and love. And when she had that certain look in her eye and you know you did wrong watch out when ya got home. lol
She was an only child of Kathleen Marie Reno Simpson and Sidney Louis Simpson . And her parents divorced in Nov. 1929, and mom stayed with granma living at her grandparents,John S. Reno, Jrand his second wife Martha Reno on Saint Paul Avenue in Detroit Michigan .
Her dad Sidney Louis Simpson tried to get custody of mom when he married his second wife but he didnt , and mom told me she didnt care for his second wife, and her son was not all that nice to mom when she did go to visit granpa Simpson . She was glad she could see her dad those times she was young but she rather liked living with her mom my granma Simpson.
She worked as a Nanny in Detroit before she got married. I remember her telling me once about the family in Detroit she was a Nanny for. She was supposed to take the boy in the kitchen and feed him his dinner then get him ready for bed, but he slipped out of the house and mom couldnt find him, finally she did, he was playing in the garden pond and she said the guests were arriving for a formal dinner that afternoon and mom had to walk into the pond and get the boy out , she said she was so embarassed and the guests were laughing. Mom was sixteen I think then. And the boy she was Nanny too was nine. He always did stuff like that to make her embarrassed. He was a spoiled brat.
My Mom ,Florence Jean (Simpson) Fleury, married Leonard Joseph Fleury June 25, 1938 in Detroit Michigan , together they had seven children two boys David Joseph, Charles Russel, and five girls Shirley Marie(Fleury)(Pannette)Weis,Irene Marie Fleury Young Diane Joan (Fleury)Warlick , myself KathleenMaryann (Fleury) Bilbrey I was her sixth child, and Carol Ann (Fleury)Selley . She had also 5 miscarriages after Carol.
She always helped people out when she could, even tho we didnt have much ourselves growing up. She worked for Jim Robbins Seat Belt Company in Mount Clemens in her later years.
She loved animals and we had three dogs as I can remember , Poopay,Susyand Swifty, along with three dachunds or hot dog dogs, she loved to play Bingo when she could .
Mom had Dad as a caregiver untill he was in a nursing home himself. He passed a year before mom. After Dad passed away Carol, my sis ,and I helped mom to cope ,and I stayed with her in Michigan most of the last year of her life , my husband didnt like for me to be gone from Tennessee so much then , but I told him I wasnt with her nearly enough after I married him, and moved down here as I wanted to be, so I was going to be with Mom and Dad as much as I could before they passed even if it may cause us to have a divorce, but I didnt tell Mom that , she would always say to me go and be with your husband but I told her he could take care of himself and our last son that was still home , I was going to be with her. Also at the time Carol's second husband moved down to Tennessee at the same time too, and Carol's marriage was in trouble but she stayed in Michigan to be with Mom also and Mom kept telling her to go be with her Hubby and Carol felt the same way I did so it wasnt long before Mom had to move into a nursing home hospital because she was living in a trailer ,and it was hard for her to move around in it . She was almost completely blind she had emaculate degenitive blindness , she had a pacemaker put in and then she was finally in a wheelchair.
The last year of mom's life tho she seemed to enjoy herself more because she had made friends her own age in the nursing home and she went to Church Services there, played Bingo and when she was up to it she would go on small trips that were available for the seniors that could get around ok with some help from the staff. And every day sis ,Carol, and I would try and visit her too . Closer to her time of passing tho she would talk to sis Carol sometimes as if she was talking to her Mother and Mom even told a nurse her mom Kathleen Simpson came there on the days Carol didnt go and visit her . I believe she did see her mom too and am sure our grandma came and took her to heaven the morning mom passed two days before her birthday on our oldest brothers' David Leonard Fleurys' birthday.

It was a month after our mom had passed away that while still in Michigan I had been staying in the trailer takeing care of mom's bird and dog she had at that time, when one day I got back to the trailer by myself from visiting my sis and when I walked into the trailer her bird and dog were makeing alot of noise , the bird squawking and the dog barking that I had to yell at them to be quiet, but they wouldnt stop. All of a sudden they got quiet and I started hearing my mom's music box start to play in the bedroom part of the trailer, so I went in there and it was still playing , and I thought oh gees mom loved that music box and she must of started it to quiet the animals, or the animals were sensing that maybe mom's spirit was there and that was why they got excited. I believe it was so.

'The Power of Prayer'
The day was long, the burden I had borne
Seemed heavier than I could longer bear
And then it lifted - but I did not know
Someone had knelt in prayer;
Had taken me to God that very hour,
And asked the easing of the load, and He,
In infinite compassion, had stooped down
And taken it from me.

Your Mother is always with you.... She's the whisper
of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach
in your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand
on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives
inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop.
She's the place you came from, your first home; and
she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love
and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can
separate you.
Not time, not space... not even death!

A Mother's Crown

Heaven lit up with His mighty presence,
As all the Angels looked down,
Today the Lord was placing the jewels,
In all the mother's crowns.

As He held up a golden crown,
As all the mother's looked on,
He said in His gentle voice,
"I just want to explain each stone".

He held the first gem in His hand
But the radiance couldn't match His own.
For He was the light of Heaven,
Reflecting off each of the stones.

"The first gem," He said, "is an emerald,
And it's for endurance alone,
For all the nights you waited up
For your children to come home.

For all the nights by their bedside,
you stayed till the fever went down,
For nursing every little wound,
I add this emerald to your crown.

A ruby, I'll place by the emerald,
For leading your child in the right way,
For if you hadn't taught them about me,
They wouldn't be here with you today.

For always being right there,
Thru all life's important events,
I give you a sapphire stone,
For the time and love you spent.

For untying the strings that held them,
When they grew up and left home,
I give you this one for courage.
Then the Lord added an amethyst stone.

"I'll place a stone of garnet,"
He said, "For all the times you spent on your knees,
When you asked me to take care of your children,
And them for having faith in me.

I have a pearl for every little sacrifice,
That you made without them knowing,
For all the times you went without,
To keep them happy, healthy, and growing.

And last of all I have a diamond,
The greatest of all gems,
For those mother's who lost their children,
When they came home to heaven before them.

This is the most precious sacrifice,
So I give the most precious stone,
For I know just how you felt,
I too lost a child of my own."

After the Lord placed the last jewel in,
He said, "Heaven is now complete,
For every mother has her crown of jewels,
And all her children are at her feet."

I found this on another interment , and I liked this:

When I must leave you for a little while
please do not grieve and shed wild tears
and hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile.

And for my sake and in my name
live on and do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
but fill each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky.

You can only have one mother Patient kind and true;No other friend in all the world,Will be the same to you. When other friends forsake you,To mother you will return,For all her loving kindness,She asks nothing in return. As we look upon her picture,Sweet memories we recall,Of a face so full of sunshine,And a smile for one and all.Sweet Jesus, take this message,To our dear Mother up above;Tell her how we miss her,And give her all our love.Author Unknown
