A longtime resident of Cobb County, Mr. Hayes served in the US Army at Fort McPherson and was a member of the Honor Guard. A retired from Marta after over 25 years and later retired from Pull-A-Part. He was a longtime member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Smyrna. Mr. Hayes was also a member of the Gideons, and was a Mason in Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sisters Rev. James Authur Hayes, Edath Conley, and Roberta VanHoose. He is survived by his loving wife Jackie O'Neal Hayes of Smyrna; daughters and sons in law Lisa Hayes Mabry and Joe of Canton, and Leslie Hayes Powell and Trey of Canton; brothers Bert Hayes of Louisa, KY, and Earl Dean Hayes of Louisa, KY; sister Ruby Van-Hoose of River, KY; grandchildren Mason and Anna Grace Powell, and Luke Mabry.
