LaTonya Yovette Wilson had just turned seven years old when she was taken from her home on June 22nd 1980. LaTonya was the daughter of Clarence and Ella Wilson. She attended Jones Elementary School.

On the night of June 22nd 1980, LaTonya was abducted from her home at Hillcrest Heights Apartments, 2261 NW Verbena Street, Apartment 7 in the Dixie Hills area of Atlanta Georgia. On October 18th 1980, LaTonya's body was found in a fenced in area near the intersection of Verbena Street and Sewanee Ave in Atlanta next to the United Youth Adult Conference of Atlanta. LaTonya is one of two little girls who was listed among the Atlanta Missing and Murdered Children alongside 12 year old Angel Lenair.

LaTonya was survived by her parents Clarence and Ella Wilson; her brothers Christopher, Tyress, and David; her sister Cheryl; two half sisters and two half brothers; and her grandparents Velma Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Booker T. Morris.

LaTonya's funeral services were held on Oct. 25th, 1980 at 12 noon at Central Holiness Church located at 1069 Washington St. S.W., Atlanta Georgia. Elder J.T. Barnette was the officiating minister. She was laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery in Griffin Georgia. McDowell-Walker Mortuary in East Point Georgia was in charge of the services.
