Mrs. June (Daves) Simmons, 89, of Newport died Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Batesville. She was born August 19, 1923, the daughter of Floyd Daves, Sr., and Ina Bell (Cowart) Daves.
Mrs. Simmons was a retail clerk at Weingartens, and a telephone operator in Hot Springs during the 1950's. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God at Tuckerman, and enjoyed sewing, shopping, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Sain Sherrell Simmons; one son, Anthony "Tony" Albert Simmons, Sr.; one daughter, Wanda June Henson; and one brother, Floyd Daves, Jr.
She is survived by one daughter, Glenna Carroll Ellerbee and husband Danny of Cabot; one son-in-law, Wayne Henson of Newport; one daughter-in-law, Lydia (Thomas) Simmons of Newark; one sister, Mildred Knight of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Pam Roberson, Allen Henson, Scott Ellerbee, and Anthony Simmons, Jr.; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexis Roberson, Emily Henson, Tatum Roberson, Noah Roberson, Darci Ellerbee, Halie Roberson, and Casey Ellerbee.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Faith Assembly of God, Tuckerman. Visitation is Monday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.
