He was born at Huntington Township, Huntington County, IN to Ernest and Jennis M. (Carl) West and a lifetime resident of Huntington County. He was a 1931 graduate of Huntington Township High School. He married Melba M. Berry on April 8, 1939 in Huntington County; she preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 1999.
He retired in 1975 as the former owner of W.W. Locker in Bippus, which he owned since 1947. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bippus.
He is survived by one son - Thomas (Susan) West of Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Phillip (Julie) Kaylor of Huntington; a half brother, Clifford Webb of Bippus; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. Three sisters - Marguerite Eckart, Evelyn Burnworth and Helen Ulrich and one half brother Donald Webb, preceded him in death.
