Phillip Rodney Gage, 72, of Milano, died Sunday, April 21, in Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. He was born Aug. 25, 1940, in Slaton to Tommy Wendell and Artie Mitcha (Beard) Gage.

Mr. Gage graduated from Thorndale High School in 1958 and attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos. He worked as a planner with Cameron Iron Works in Houston for 18 years. After moving to Milano, he worked at Royal Seating in Cameron, retiring after 16 years.

Mr. Gage enjoyed playing dominoes, scratching lotto tickets, fishing and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara Gage Hughes and Bertha Mae Gage Lacey; and the mother of his sons, Marie (Zills) Gage, in 2003.

Survivors are three sons, Phillip Michael Gage of Cedar City, Utah, Joseph Rodney Gage and wife Dana of Milano, Brian Aric Gage of Cedar City, Utah; six brothers, Eddie Gage and wife Mary of Spring, James Gage and wife Louise of Humble, Vernon Gage and wife Barbara of Milano, Roger Gage and wife Bobbie of League City, Michael Gage of Rockdale, Robin Gage and wife Annette of San Leon; a sister, Lynda Gage Rankin and husband Jim of Austin; six grandchildren, Ashley Gage Juergens and husband Seth of Austin, Brock Gage of Milano, Tanner Gage of Hong Kong, Trevor Gage of Cedar City, Travis Gage and Tristan Gage, both of Milano; three step-grandchildren, Devin Love and Kody Love, both of Milano, Haley Love Halpain and husband Joe of Cameron; and a step-great-granddaughter, Xoey Halpain; also, a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at in Pleasant Retreat Cemetery near Thorndale. Visitation is set at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.

Pallbearers wi ll be Scott Rankin, Richard Gage, Keith Lacey, Rodney Gage, Roger Gage, Greg Rankin, Tony Gage and Stephen Gage
