GILLESPIE - Clarence David "C.D." Thornton, 77, of Gillespie died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Staunton, the son of Lawrence and Viola Alexander Thornton. He married Emma Marie Angeli in 1947 in Gillespie.

Mr. Thornton was a production manager at L&M Cabinet Factory/Dura Craft Industries in Gillespie and owned and operated Thornton Home Repair Services in Gillespie. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors: wife, Emma; son, Ronald Thornton of Springfield; daughter, Sharon (husband, Bryan) Knop of Springfield; two brothers, John Thornton of Medora and Jim Thornton of Lee's Summit, Mo.; sister, Freda Buckley of Benld; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, the Rev. Julie Guy officiating. Burial: Gillespie Cemetery.
