Mr. Thornton was a production manager at L&M Cabinet Factory/Dura Craft Industries in Gillespie and owned and operated Thornton Home Repair Services in Gillespie. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors: wife, Emma; son, Ronald Thornton of Springfield; daughter, Sharon (husband, Bryan) Knop of Springfield; two brothers, John Thornton of Medora and Jim Thornton of Lee's Summit, Mo.; sister, Freda Buckley of Benld; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, the Rev. Julie Guy officiating. Burial: Gillespie Cemetery.
