In Hope Cemetery, Castile village, remains a weathered stone to the memory of Aaron Post who died Nov. 9, l827,aged 67 years 1 m o n t h . A descendant, Donald E. Poste, Perry, has supplied the details of his career. Corporal Post was born Oct. 9, 1760, at Hebron, Conn., and was a soldier in the Revolution from Thetford, Vt., and saw much service. He removed to Vershire, Vt., in March l803 from which place he set out, Oct. 20, 1813, for Perry, N . Y . , and settled in a part now in Castile. He commenced work on his property, May lst, l8l4.,and was founder and first deacon of the. Castile Christian Church. He was married at Vershire, Vt., Dec. 8, 1785 to Elizabeth Maltbie, daughter of William and Lydia Ritter. Mrs. Post, a native of Lenox, Mass., Died N o v . 9, I839 aged 65 years 3 months and 27 days. Mr. and M r s . Post were the parents of eleven children, namely: Aaron, Josiah, Betsey, Lydia, Polly, Israel, Bela, Cynthis, Anna, Joel, and Mary.
