Death Notice published in the Toronto Republican, Jan. 19, 1894, page 3
A Sad Accident. Mr. and Mrs. Z. Gilroy's four-week's old baby was killed and Mrs. Gilroy seriously injured, last Tuesday afternoon, by being thrown from a buggy while the horses were running away. Mrs. Gilroy and her two children and Miss Mollle Cornett were returning home from a visit to Mr. Gilroy ' sister, Mrs. Chas. Lane, who lives about eight miles north of Toronto. One of the horses, in a playful mood, kicked over the tongue, causing them to take fright and start to run. The ladies being unable to check them, they ran into a wire fence, throwing three of the occupants out. The four weeks old babe's head was crushed by the fall, causing its death in about an hour afterward. Mrs. Gilroy was hurt internally, and now lies in a precarious condition. Miss Cornett and the other child, about two years of age, received no serious injuries. The funeral services of the dead infant were conducted Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Basoom Robbins. The sympathies of the entire community are with the bereaved parents.
