Andrew Judson Taylor, my Great Grandfather, came to California from Pennsylvania via St Clair and Carroll county Illinois. Born 1837 according to this stone (but research identifies 1834-5). He was a butcher by trade and first shows up in CA as a minor(under 21)in the 1853 probate of one of his four brothers, Charles Taylor, who died 1853 in what is now Durham, Butte County, CA. Charles was a business associate of Sam Neal. Andrew Judson Taylor is listed in my father's baby book by my grandmother. He is buried here next to his Father-in-law, Owen Owen. Andrew married Catherine Owen from Wales in 1868 at her fathers (Owen Owen) farm in the Amador Valley. Additional Info is covered on pages 59-75 of "Pathways to Livermore: Owen, Meyers and Taylor Families of Alameda County, California." isbn 978-1-105-10473-2. by lulu.com publishers Nov. 2011 written by my cousin (Dori Drake Anderson) with a lot of info provided by myself. There are very few errors. Another brother; Benjamin Ethel Taylor b. 1840 in Il. is noted in the 1870 Murray township census. He is buried at Colma, SF. There is lots of info going forward about Andrew Judson Taylor's children. Andrew's father was Nathan Taylor, b.1793 in New Milford , Litchfield county Connecticut, died Dec.11,1847 St. Clair County Il. Contact me for further info.
