Boxer Rebellion Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Huntly, Aberdeen Scotland to David Walker and Barbara Cooper, he immigrated to the United States at the age of 4 in 1868. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the military operations in China as a Sergeant. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for service in Peking, China. His citation reads "In the presence of the enemy during the battle of Peking, China, 20 June to 16 July 1900. Throughout this period, Walker distinguished himself by meritorious conduct." and was issued on July 19, 1901. Walker married Mary Owens in 1904 and they lived in Pennsylvania until he retired from the U. S. Marine Corps in 1922 and moved to San Jose, California. Walker was a member of First Methodist Church and active in the Army and Navy Legion of Valor, the U. S. Marine Corp League, Wheaton Camp, United Spanish War Veterans of San Jose and Major Randolph T. Zane Post 344, Veterans of Foreign Wars until his death in an auto accident in San Jose, California. Members of the United Spanish War Veterans (pallbearers) and the Marine Corp League conducted the services.
