Marine Lance Corp Anderson was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Anderson was manning a .50 caliber rifle on top of a 7-ton truck when a hanging wire was in the way and the gun he was manning on top of the truck was about to touch the wire. Had the wire come in contact with the loaded gun everyone on the truck would have been electrocuted. Brian tried to get the wire away from the gun so that it would not make a connection, instead he was electrocuted. He gave his life so that others would live. Brian joined the Marines after graduating in 1996 from high school, where he played football, ran track and wrestled. He helped the wrestling team win the state championship in 1995. When his Camp Lejeune-based unit crossed into Iraq, he was one of the first to throw water to the waiting children. Brian was always willing to give a hand, or his time, or his money. He just wanted to help. Anything he had, he was willing to give it to others; he always valued other people.
