LAKE VIEW, SC - Mrs. Nelle Hayes died Monday, April 22, 2013 in her home in Florence, SC, after an illness. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 25th, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Lake View Cemetery, conducted by Cooke Funeral Home. Mrs. Hayes was born on Aug. 10, 1922 to John Chaddie Hayes and Letha Price Hayes of Lake View, SC 29563. She was the widow of Schubert Hoffman Hayes to whom she was married 44 years. She graduated from Limestone College, and she was a school teacher who taught school in Blacksburg, Olanta, Lake View, Floydale and Latta (Latimer Elementary) Mrs. Hayes is survived by her daughters Elaine (Houston) Cain of Florence, SC, and Carol Lynn (Bruce) Cabot of Connecticut; son, Dr. John C. (Mary Anne) Hayes of Clemson, SC; , daughter-in-law, Mary Louise Hayes of Leland, NC; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons. Mrs. Hayes was preced-ed in death by her son, Richard Blake Hayes, Dr. James Hayes, Leon Hayes, Robert Hayes, Ruth Lupo, Carlton Hayes, and Albert Hayes. Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers and may be made to First Baptist Church, Lake View, SC, PO Box 397, Lake View SC 29563; ALS Society, 1275 K Street NW, Suite 1050, Washington, DC 20005; or the American Cancer Society , 250 Williams St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30303-1002.
